What discussions has the Minister held with local education authorities regarding schools who will be unable to set a balanced budget in 2019/20?

Answered by Minister for Education Answered on 18/03/2019

I have had numerous discussions with Local Authorities with regards to their budget setting processes. However, it remains the case that individual Local Authorities are responsible for setting school budgets. The Welsh Government does not normally intervene directly in the management of school budgets. Local authorities are expected to work with schools to ensure school funding arrangements are effective in supporting and raising the achievement of all learners, regardless of their needs.
